For this theme, Power, I thought of a gun. When people see my drawing, they automatically think I'm psycho. I'm not BTW.
The way I see it is, when somebody, like a cop or something, has a gun in their hand, they feel powerful. A gun itself is powerful.

This self portrait theme was really tough for me. I had no idea what to do! I knew what I wanted to put in my project. I just didn't know what to make it out of.
I started off drawing my class ring because it explained everything I was involved in and what I liked in high school. Well that didn't turn out too well. So then I started making my class ring out of clay. That was a fail also. Thats when I just got the clay and made it into a ball and told myself to make a world with all the things I love..... Because things I love, are my world. For the surrealism theme, my idea was to create a turtle with rabbit legs and a rabbit head. I had this idea from the story, the rabbit and the tortoise.
I had trouble with creating the rabbit legs because i wanted them to look exactly alike. Then remembered, its a surrealism theme so who cares if they don't look alike. I ended up not having enough time to do the rabbit head so i just did something simple, and created an elephant trunk as the head. I am actually really proud of how it turned out. Now time to paint it! I want to start off by saying, I can to do a lot better art work then this! I promise! This was my very first time working with wire, as you can see. This has to be one of the difficult art work I've done by far!!
The theme for this art work was "light". I was inspired by Katy Perry's "Prism" album, which is about letting the light into people who listen to that album of hers. Give them a light of happiness. Never again will I work with wire. It is one of the most frustrating things I've done in art! especially when the wire doesn't do what you want it to do. Or when one wire is longer/shorter than the other so you basically have to start allll over again! On the "sound" art theme, the first thing that popped up in my head was music notes... like everyone else probably. Then you said not to do that, and thats when the idea of the sound of rain came to my mind.
So when I did this, I was just gonna do rain drops with little puddles at the bottom of the page. It looked way too plain when I was done stamping the rain drops. What I decided to do was carve out an umbrella and stamp that with the rain drops which added more sound to the art work! (the sound of the rain hitting the umbrella.) |
